Hang curtains higher and wider than the window

Mounting a curtain rod a few inches above the window frame and extending it past the sides makes the ceiling look taller and the window look larger, without touching the window itself. Sheer linen-look panels do this particularly well because they still let light through.

Commit to damage-free hanging, properly

The difference between a rental gallery wall that looks styled and one that looks like it's about to fall down is almost always the hardware. Rated adhesive strips sized to the frame's actual weight — not whatever was in the drawer — hold as securely as a nail and come off clean.
